Corrosion is often the reason for damaged components. Besides visible cracks and holes on the surface, serious internal material damage and embrittlement can quickly become a risk to the entire process. In particular hazardous to health, flammable or explosive media can cause serious problems if leaks occur. Therefore, all used materials must have suitable corrosion resistance.

The PAM inflatable sealing system

For the construction of hermetically sealed, gas- and pressure-tight
bulk material or process valves or intermittent sluice systems.

The functional principle

The inflatable Pressairmatic seal (PAM) is a U-profile open at the top into which a clamping ring with stud bolts is inserted. Clamping ring and seal are inserted together in a sealing groove and screwed into the housing with sealing nuts. The Pressairmatic seal is embedded in the seal groove and is protected on both sides by pre-wipers against damage during the opening and closing process, i.e. the seal does not come into contact with the product.

The inflation process is controlled by an electromechanical actuator.

When the gate reaches its closed end position, a pneumatic control system is actuated, which releases the compressed air for the inflatable seal with a time delay (approx. 1 sec.) via an intermediate time delay element. The seal is inflated and presses 100% onto the gates surface. The closing zone is now material, gas, vacuum and pressure tight in both directions, provided that the inflation pressure is higher than the internal pressure by at least 1.5 to 2 bar g.

Application area

  • For liquid-, gas-, pressure- and vacuum-tight shut-off of the slide gate closing zone
  • For material-tight shut-off of bulk materials and liquids, even at high switching frequencies
  • In the temperature range up to 300°C
  • In the pressure range up to 6 bar g
  • In the vacuum range up to 10 mbar

Slide gate

As standard, we use stainless steels for our slide/swing gate and flap klaps. Due to their good corrosion resistance, they have proven themselves in most applications. For special requirements, such as poorly flowing or aggressive media, adaptation is possible by means of an appropriate coating or surface treatment.

All values and properties specified here are to be understood as guide values. Each application is subject to different operational environmental influences and must therefore be taken into account when selecting materials. Resistances are influenced, for example, by excessive temperatures, high concentrations of the medium, mechanical stresses or extreme weather conditions. Therefore, we cannot give any guarantee for the stated values. Bitte beachten Sie, dass alle Elastomerteile eine begrenzte Lebensdauer haben und deshalb regelmäßig kontrolliert und ggf. ersetzt werden müssen.
